MUKTESHWAR
Mukteshwar is quite paradise at 7513 ft.above sea level in upper Kumaon hills
of Uttaranchal, 351 Km. NE of Delhi. Ideal for a brief sojourn, this slumbering
hamlet perched a top a ridge soaring 7500 fts in the sky exudes a charm unrivalled
by any other place in the Kumaon hills. Take a walk amidst the conifer forests
and apple, peach, plum and apricot orchards and watch the Himalayan snow peaks
play hide-and-seek with the clouds. Mukteshwar is an ideal hill station if you
want to do nothing but only admire the panoramic beauty of the Himalayas and
leisurely walks through the winding paths of the hills.

Mukteshwar Temple
Mukteshwar Temple is at an altitude of 2,315 m and can be approached by stone
stairs. The temple is dedicated to Shiva and has a lingam made of white marble.
The idols of Brahma, Vishnu, Parvati, Ganesh, Nandi and Hanuman surround the
lingam. During the festivals specially Shivratri, the Temple is the Hub of much
revelry. Climb a flight of stone steps up to the Temple and the Ashram near
by, and pay your respects amidst breathtaking views.
Chauthi jaali
After you take in the views at the Mukteshwar temple, walk down to Chauthi
Jaali. A magnificent rocky cliff jutting 500 ft out of the hillside. Leaning
over the slanting rocks on the edge of this cliff, you can look all the way
down to the base of mountain, and to Ramgarh below
Indian Veterinary Research Institute
Indian Veterinary Research Institute was established in 1898. The campus
of the institute has various departments for Research, Animal Nutrition, Genetics
and Bacteriology along with a library and a museum. Special permission is
required to enter the campus of the institute.
