Madhya Pradesh
Few regions in India are more interesting than Madhya Pradesh which, as its
name implies lies in the heart of India. Cultral heritage of Madhya Pradesh
is ancient & chequered. innumerable monuments, exquisitely carved temples,
stupas, forts and palaces are reminders of the days gone by, of empires &
kingdoms, of great warriors and builders, poets and musicians, saints &
philosophers, of religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Jaisism & Islam.
A good part of this region is forested, offering a unique & exciting panorama
of wildlife. Tiger is quite common among the national parks like Kanha, Bandhavgarh
& Shivpuri.
Best Season for Jeep safari in Kanha National Park
:
February to June although cool season (October to February) is much more comfortable
and still very good for wildlife. The park is closed from July 01 to October
01 because of the monsoon.
Park Visit Timings :
1. 15 November to 15 February - Sunrise to 12.00 noon and 3.00 pm to Sunset.
2. 16 February to 30 April - Sunrise to 1200 noon and 4.00 pm to Sunset.
3. 1 May to 30 June - Sunrise to 11.00 am and 5.00 pm to Sunset.
Jeep Safari In the Bandhavgarh National Park :
The park can be entered in a jeep or by car. In safaris a forest department
guide always accompanies you. He will direct and tell about the flora and
fauna of the park. The best time to visit the park is early in the morning
or after 4 p.m.It is during this time that the animals are most active and
are easily spotted.
Best Season :
Visitors can visit the park during the time period of Mid November to mid
June, still the best period to come is January-April. Park is open from 1st
of October to 30th June only. After that it is closed.
Jeep Safari in Shivpuri National Park :
If you are in Shivpuri National Park, wake up early in the morning, all you
need a guuide and a vehicle because it is the time when you will be able to
see most of the animals. Take another wildlife safari at the evening time and
see the animals. The luxuriantly forested hills make the view of the park even
more spectacular.
Chattisgarh :
The district of Raipur possesses three wildlife sanctuaries. The sanctuaries
are open throughout the year but looking to the accessibility it is advisable
that the visits are made during November to June in the Year. With a varied
terrain of wooded hills abounding with evergreen sal forests, precious timber
procuring, natural and planted teak forests and mixed forests of higher and
medium quality, the sanctuaries offer abundant opportunities of sighting a
variety of wild life.
The predominant species in the sanctuaries are deer and the most easily sighted
are the graceful little chinkara, the Indian gazelle and the chital or spotted
deer. Other species that have their habitat in the sanctuaries are nilgai,
Sambar, Kotri,barking deer, chausingha or four horned antelope, sloth bear,
wild boar, wild dog, jackal,wolf, hyena and bison. Tiger & leopards/panthers
can also be spotted in the sanctuaries, but they are certainly in limited
numbers. The sanctuary's avifauna includes peacock, jungle fowl, pigeon, green
pigeon, wood plucker, quail, gray-partridge, parrot, stork etc. Artificial
water holes have been developed in the area to attract migratory birds which
are good sites for bird-watchers in winter and for general tourists in summer.
Barnawapara Sanctuary :
Barnawapara sanctuary occupies the Northern part of Mahasamund District and
covers an area of 244.66 sq. Kms
Sita Nadi Sanctuary :
The Sitanadi Sanctuary occupies the Southern most parts of Dhamtari Tehsil
in Raipur District land joins Orrisa State boundary. It covers lover 552.55
Sq.Kms. of area.
Udanti Sanctuary :
The Udanti Sanctuary occupies the South-Eastern portion of Gariaband Tehsil
of Raipur District and adjoins Orissa State in Eastern side. It covers an
area of 247.59 Sq. Kms. The Sanctuary is principally created to protect the
wild buffaloes. The other species are also abundant in the area.
